PURPOSE AND APPLICATION

Heavy-duty rake used to remove larger debris from the water (branches, plants, plastic cans, large seaweed, large crabs, man-made refuse, etc.). The “S” rake is used at the entrance of the screening plants of thermal and nuclear power stations, LNG terminals, desalination plants, fertilizer plants, drinking water, sewage and irrigation plants.

They can either have a fixed head structure (one rake cleans one bar screen) or be of a deck-travelling type (one rake cleans in turn a number of bar racks).

DESCRIPTION

The bar rack is installed across the pit. The rake is normally parked in its top position above deck. The comb is disengaged from the bar rack. When a signal is received, the rake travels downwards, directed by the wall guides. On reaching the bottom, the rake tilts from its open position to its raking position. The rake tines penetrate between the bars of the rack. The rake travels up-wards collecting and storing the debris. When the rake reaches the top, above deck, it tilts and the water brought up by the rake scoop flushes the debris away into the deck flume.

For the mobile, or deck-travelling version, the raking head is carried by a deck trolley running on two rails. It serves many screening lines, cleaning each one in turn. It is well-suited to plants with a low debris concentration. It is economical when there are at least four bar rack lines side-by-side.
