COARSE BAR SCREENS
PURPOSE
Bar racks with a bar spacing of a few centimeters are installed across water channels to prevent the downstream ingress of divers, medium or large-size debris. They are used on cooling tower outlets and water intakes.
DESCRIPTION
The bar rack with vertical, parallel bars is slid into slots in the civil engineering structure.
The water flows through and the larger debris are retained on the upstream surface.
It is cleaned manually when the flow of water is stopped and the bar rack is lifted up.
It is designed for applications with a small quantity of debris.
ADVANTAGES
Very simple and robust
Fail-safe
Low head-loss
Protects against diver ingress
Prevents large debris from entering the water channel
Very robust (1.5 m design head-loss).
SIZE RANGE
Bar spacing from 40 to 200 mm (1.5 to 8”)
Widths: up to 6 m
Heights: any height is possible with superimposed elements
NECESSARY ANCILLARIES
Lift chain
Lift beam (for layouts using superimposed elements)
MATERIALS
For fresh-water applications:
All painted carbon steel or AISI 304LFor seawater applications:
Painted carbon steel with anodes
AISI 316L or duplex stainless steel
